En-Courage
"And then I said to myself: You have to do something. Get involved at last!"
A hyperactivist series of attempts to encourage oneself and others.
The idea for ”En-Courage“ emerged during the first lockdown in 2020. The performance maker Colyne Morange from France and her colleague, long-term collaborator, dramaturge and friend Heike Bröckerhoff suddenly found themselves without their work. The theatres were closed. While Colyne was not allowed to leave her flat beyond a 5 km radius and only with a certificate, Heike checked where the borders of Hamburg actually were. If the scope of movement is already so small, can't they at least expand their scope of action? Why not finally do something and engage for other people? With a touch of actionism and self-irony, the two colleagues try to encourage other people without being asked. They write letters to residents of an old people's home or stay on the phone for hours to collect food donations from supermarkets that already donate to other initiatives. They use voice messages to keep each other informed about the hopeful and hopeless moments. A dialogue unfolds about successful failure and how encouraging it can be to give courage to others.
The production of this episode is planned for 2022/23.
En-Courage is a research initiated by Heike Bröckerhoff in collaboration with Colyne Morange.
